November 20, 2003 -
Dear Friends,
As much as we love the music and enjoy the shows of the Rolling Stones, I have come to the same conclusion as many of our neighbors to the North that the Stones have become a much more commercial focused band rather than fan based. This has helped me make the decision to remove all links, association or discussions about the Rolling Stones from Nadeau Music - THE ROLLING STONES ARE NOT WHAT NADEAU MUSIC IS ABOUT. Feel free to head to BEST BUY for all your Rolling Stone needs.
The Grateful Dead NEVER became commercialized and yet were one of, if not the highest, top grossing touring bands of the 20th century - and they founded and paid for many worthwhile non-profit organizations - and you could catch 2 or 3 Dead shows a year ($30.00-$35.00 for a FULL 3 hour+ show) and still have money left over for future events. Its somewhat ironic that the Dead allowed EVERYONE to record and share their shows/music and still sold out venues and remained a consistant top grossing tour band. It boils down to how we decide to spend our money and who gets it and what the bands feel about us as fans.
Peace all - just remember to support your local musicians and venues who work hard every day at their day job and then get out there at night to try and bring you a good time with their music without expecting anything from ya other than a good time and maybe pickup a CD or T-shirt at their cost. It may not be the "real thing", but I'm sure you will get all their energy and devotion for your price at the bar/door each and every night.

September 12, 2003 - The Music World lost another icon when Johnny Cash passed on to be with June. Whatever your music preference, there is no denying Johnny as being one of a very select group of artists who maintained their commitment to their music (over 45 years) and rode out the hard times and bad reviews. I am so glad Johnny had an opportunity to record again after the slap in the face by Columbia and brought us some incredible music in the short time we had left with him. I encourage everyone to find a credible biography on Johnny's life to further your appreciation for one of America's incredible artists.
My first experience with Johnny's music came 34 years ago. My mother was (and still is) hardcore country "Old Country" and always had plenty around to listen to. I spent that whole summer listening to Johnny in the old 8-track on the way to our favorite Indian lake - "Crystal". Ring Of Fire, Ira Hayes, I Walk the Line, etc. Thanks Johnny for making some incredible music for us to enjoy.
September 11, 2003 - On this day of sorrow and remembrance, Nadeau Music would like to extend our hopes thoughts to the soldiers working to protect our freedom from fear and wishes for you and your loved ones to remain safe and courageous during these troubling times

Syracuse, NY was once again a great gathering of incredible artists who
play with passion in their work. I will updating the site to include new
pages and pics from the festival.
As Nadeau Music continues to grow, I am constantly amazed by the
musicians and their stories. I had the great opportunity to meet up with
Eddie Tigner at the CD tent signing discs. Eddie was born in 1926 and
his father died in WWI. Eddie's mother was a popular pianist who moved
to Kentucky with the family where Eddie grew up listening to bluegrass
and country. He moved back to the Atlanta area at the age of 14. Eddie
didn't start playing piano until he entered the Army in 1945. Since that
time, he has played with the likes of Elmore James and joined the "Ink Spots" in 1959 where he steadily performed until 1987. Eddie now "feeds the children" at his job in a school cafeteria and plays occasional small club gigs in Atlanta. Eddie was made aware of "The Music Maker Relief Foundation" in the early 90's and has since made several appearences - including this years Foundation gig at the festival - ALSO appearing - Beverly "Guitar" Watkins and Cootie Stark.
It was an honor standing next to a man who has been playing music for close to 60 years and devotes the work he does now to others. We will be posting information about the Foundation and the artists who have become a part of this project.
**The information for this posting was obtained from the well-written snapshot biography by Tim Duffy found inside Eddie's album "Route 66".

July 12, 2003 - Nadeau Music is heading into our third year and one of the driving forces behind my motivation to pursue this project came from a Ron Spencer and Jumpstart gig in Alexandria Bay, New York. This was my first opportunity to meet Ron and discovered he is a true journeyman of Blue Collar Blues. Ron has been traveling near and far for over 30 years and has shared the stage with many great artists. Ron and Jumpstart were recently nominated for a 2003 W.C. Handy Award backing up Jimmy Cavallo. It was an incredible honor to assist with making a document recording of this true pride of Syracuse independent artists and the opportunity to hear some great music due out on their next disc in the future. The topper was to have this gig at my favorite hometown tavern - "The Time Warp".
Chris Sawyer on tenor and Rodney Zajac on Bari sax can also be heard playing on The Kingpins release
"Things You Gotta Watch......" - along with other notable BlueCollar musicians and guests

January 1, 2003 - Nadeau Music is proud to announce that two of the first three new additions to our inventory are from the Northeast - The Niche and VAS. Mike Morgan and the Crawl are out of Dallas Texas and play the kind of Rock'n'Roll, Blues and Boogie mix that Texas Bluesmen seem to be born to play.
We will be working on expanding our Festivals and venues sections in 2003 and would like to hear any suggestions for the site. Send us an email with some type of contact information for the event and we will work to get it posted. Specific areas include all parts of New York above the city, Southern Ontario, Canada and Eastern Vermont. There are many great musicians and venues in this beautiful part of the country and our mission is to bring them all together.
My friendship with The Dirty Pool has brought me a little closer to understanding and being a part of playing out the passion for making and enjoying incredible homebrewed Blues. The Pool Project has postponed much of the work we had anticipated at the site for 2002 but it has given me insight into the future for Nadeau Music and its mission. The Dirty Pool and Nadeau Music are in the final stages of collecting live tracks for a soon to be released album. We have four smokin' gigs recorded and are gearing up for our final session scheduled at Mojo's in Oswego, NY on 1/18/03. The tracks were recorded at venues throughout central and northern New York. We're shooting for Spring to have the album ready.
